Introduction

This webquest was developed as an enrichment activity for a science chapter.  It has cross-curricular links with art, math, and social studies.  We felt that studying the New Madrid fault would have special significance for our students because of our central location in the United States.

Learners

Students should have prior knowledge of:

  • the meaning of exponents
  • what an earthquake fault is
  • geography of Illinois
