Introduction

Archaeologists explore ancient pyramids. You as a present day nutritionist are going to explore the modern food pyramid.

The Task

As a nutrtionist, you are to explore the food pyramid from its base to its tip. You will:

*research and investigate

*participate in creative work

*process and transform the information gathered

The Process

1. Access a floor plan of the food pyramid and familiarize yourself with each of the levels. Print out a copy to take with you on your exploration.

2. Pack your bags and head off to Kellogg's Training Camp for orientation into the Bread and Cereal Group.

3. Go "bananas" while exploring the many obstacles in the Dole Kingdom.

4. "Peas" be polite while visiting the farmers at DelMonte.

5. Pack up your golden eggs and hop on the wiener mobile to learn more about the protein group.

6. "Mooooo-ve" on over to the Midland Dairy Council and have a shake on us.

7. It's a "sweet" deal. Cash in your ticket for a fact- filled, fun-filled tour of the Willy Wonka Factory.

8. You're at the top of the pyramid. Sit back, relax, and grab a snack out of the healthy fridge as you take the quiz.

Evaluation

In order to pass, students must complete all activities at each food guide pyramid level.
