Let the Journey Begin!

Medieval Times

Welcome! You are about to embark on a journey through the Dark Ages & Feudalism to arrive at the greatness of The Renaissance.

After the fall of the Roman Empire, chaos ensued until the development of feudalism. The chaotic time (400AD-800AD) is often referred to as the Dark Ages. The term Middle Ages is then used once feudalism had evolved. The Middle Ages (800AD-1500AD) was a time of growth that began with the establishment of feudalism. For a look at this era, Journey Through the Middle Ages.

As the Middle Ages progressed, cities began to grow and prosper. The structure of society began to shift and the Guilds became very important. Develop an understanding of the time and its people by visiting a Renaissance Faire.

Did you have Fun? Here's another look at attending a Renaissance Faire. What profession did you picture yourself in? Image yourself as a young serf leaving the manor and becoming free after 1 year and 1 day of hiding out. Now in the city, what type of work suits your personality? See what career best fits you.

By the late 1400's, nations began to develop as kings took power from the lords. People began to identify with the idea of being part of a bigger picture---a country. As trade increased prosperity moved countries to a greater era. Starting in Italy and then spreading throughout the rest of Europe was the period known as the Renaissance--a time of reawakening!! This era of national identity and desire to gain knowledge and power led to Imperialism, Industrialization, and our modern world.
